Hernandez Driving School
Welcome Parents!

Thank you for enrolling your teen in our driver education program. This guide provides an
overview of key class policies, procedures, and requirements to help your teen succeed.

Class Procedures

- Attendance: Students must sign in daily and be on time. Arriving more than 5 minutes late or
leaving early requires a makeup assignment.

- Cell Phones: Not allowed during class unless permitted by the instructor. Repeated violations
may result in collection of phones at the start of class.

- Breaks: A 10-minute break is given during the 2-hour session. Being late from break results
in an absence for that hour and a required makeup assignment.

- Participation: Note-taking is encouraged. Food and drinks are allowed but must be cleaned
up after use.

Program Overview

- Classroom Instruction:
- 24 hours of classroom learning (2 hours per day for 8 days plus Exams and Video

permit.

- Proper documentation is required—please ensure all necessary documents are ready in
advance.

Scheduling Driving Lessons

- Driving lessons are available on evenings and weekends.

- Parents must schedule lessons via our website using the student’s account.

- Lessons must be spread out over 6 months (or 3-4 months if the student is 18+).

Final Steps to Getting a License

- After completing classroom and driving requirements, students must pass the DPS Road
Test.
